‘Like most dreams, it didn’t happen overnight. It started when she was a little girl and grew right along with her. By the time she left for college, her love for animals was strong enough to carry her dreams toward a lifelong career.
Robin double majored in psychology and elementary education, earning a BA in both fields from a small private college in New Hampshire.
After graduation she moved to New York City to volunteer for an Animal Rescue Group whose focus was to help dogs and cats living in “junk yards” in Harlem. Robin’s first adopted pets as an adult, were a blind shih-tzu and a cat from the streets of Harlem.
Robin moved back to Maine and worked as a Case Manager in Brunswick while apprenticing at a large doggie daycare and boarding facility in Belgrade. All the while, she dreamed of someday owning her own ‘Bed and Biscuit’ on the coast of Maine.
A couple years later Robin moved to Damariscotta and started a pet care business unique to any other. She did “outward bound for dogs” off leash outings for small groups of dogs at dog friendly parks and preserves. She also did overnights in pet’s home while owners were away on vacation. Both avenues were well received by pet owners in the community and it became clear that there was great demand for this niche market in dog care.
In 2006, Robin and her husband Eric, bought land in Newcastle and her lifelong dream turned into reality. In 2008, Meadowsweet Inn for Dogs was born.
